The software I made doesn't have all the features you might need. It's not fancy. It won't regularly consume your time, storage space, or money. But it’s just enough to provide the core value for a low cost, payed once.
You used to buy your software once, like your smartphone. You used to decide whether you want to upgrade to the newest version or stick to the old one for a bit longer. If it had features you wanted to have, you bought the newest, otherwise not.
Now with subscriptions, you don’t have the choice anymore. You pay regularly and the software isn’t evolving anymore. Some of that software even talk to a server. Servers require constant maintenance 24/7 by expensive developers and IT experts, a location, an internet connection and electricity – everything you pay for as well. But do apps for yourself need a server to provide their value? Think of a note taking app for yourself. It could be just on your device and low cost. It should be your decision when to upgrade it.
The average total of monthly subscription of individuals in Europe are around €1301. Add up your own subscriptions for each month. What if you could save and spend this for a nice vacation?
When a software has a reduced set of features – just enough to provide the same value, the maintenance of the software is cheap and easy and you pay less and once.
- You pay once.
- It is simple and straightforward.
- It runs on your device.
- It is small and last long.
- You can export and leave anytime whenever your needs have changed.
When the software doesn’t have as many features as other apps, it's affordable and straightforward. You can pay for it once, and that's it. And if it no longer fits your needs, you can export your data, keep your history, and move on. That’s what Just Enough is all about.
I hope you join me on this journey.
